🍄🌿 Exploring the Mushrooms of the Ozarks! Our 8th graders enjoyed a fascinating presentation from local mushroom expert and author Mike Snyder, author of Foraging Mushrooms of the Ozarks. Students learned about mushrooms found throughout the Ozarks, the important role fungi play in our ecosystems, and scientific concepts such as symbiotic relationships and how living organisms interact and depend on one another. 🍄🌎🔬 A great opportunity to connect classroom science to the world right outside our doors! 🐾

☀️Science Club enjoyed a trip to St.Louis Saturday, visiting the National Museum of Transportation, and the Forest Park Hot Air Balloon Festival. 🎶On Saturday, September 19, five members of the Licking High School Concert Choir traveled to Kickapoo High School in Springfield, MO to audition for our district's Honor Choirs: Gwen Campbell, Malaina Lonning, Reece Lozoya, Ashley Rodabaugh, and Rose Smith. After hundreds of auditions from high school singers throughout south-central Missouri, Gwen Campbell was chosen as a member of the 2026 South-Central Missouri's ACDA Honor Choir, and she will be performing Saturday, November 7, at Evangel University in Springfield, MO. #wildcatpride

Today's meet in Stoutland was a fun one! It was a high school meet and we didn't have all of our runners but the ones we did have did not disappoint! 🏅Seyrena Carter placed 9th in the Varsity Girls race and 🏅Ethan Stout placed 10th in the Varsity Boys race! #Wildcatpride #Wildcatcrosscountry

The 7th Grade Lady Cats traveled to Rolla to face the Lady Bulldogs tonight. The Lady Cats came out on top in three sets finishing the night with scores of 25-15, 19-25, & 15-6. 8th grade taking the court next!

📚📰 Learning Beyond the Classroom! Today in Mrs. Faith Sullins’ ELA 1 class, students took some time to catch up on what’s happening right here in our own community! ❤️ Students read the Licking News, discussed local stories and events, and made connections between what they were reading and the community around them. It was a fun and meaningful way to strengthen reading skills while staying informed and connected to Licking! 🗞️📖🏫

🧭🔎 A Treasure Hunt for Equations! 🔎🧭 Mrs. Robertson’s 7th and 8th grade Discovery Learning classes put their problem-solving skills to the test! Students uncovered clues involving removal and distance to decipher the hidden clues and determine all 10 hidden equations. 🧩➗ It was a fun, hands-on treasure hunt that required teamwork, critical thinking, and a little detective work! 🕵️‍♀️🗺️ Great job, Discovery Learning! 🎉📚

Over the weekend, we learned of the tragic loss of one of our high school seniors. We are deeply saddened by this tragic news, and extend our most sincere condolences to the student's family. Out of respect for our school community and to allow students and staff the opportunity to attend funeral services, school will be canceled on Friday, September 18. We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.
