🟠We are happy to announce that for the seventh consecutive year, students in the Licking R-8 District will be able to eat breakfast and lunch meals with NO COST to families. Thanks to our Food Service Director, Mrs. Samie Lewis, for her work to ensure this benefit is available to our students and their families. ⚫️Thank you to our kitchen staff for their dedication to serving our students breakfast and lunch every single day of the school year. We appreciate you, Ladies! 🟠 You can read more about the CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) that makes our no cost breakfast and lunch student meals possible below.   PUBLIC RELEASE SY 2026-2027 Community Eligibility Provision The Licking R-8 School District is participating in a Free Breakfast and Lunch Program for the current school year, 2026-2027. This alternative is referred to as the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). All students enrolled at this school may participate in the breakfast and lunch program at no charge. Studies have shown that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing school meals to all children at no charge, we are hoping to create a better learning environment for our students. The school breakfast and lunch that we serve follows U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. The Free Breakfast and Lunch Program cannot succeed without your support. Please encourage your children to participate in the school meal programs. If your children attend Licking Schools, breakfast and lunch will be available to them at no charge.

Next week is the first day of school, here are the FFA activities for the first week.

- Thursday Aug. 27 there will be a Trapshooting Informational Meeting starting at 6 PM in the Ag room. ALL FFA members with their guardian/parent interested in participating in Trapshooting Fall 2026 MUST attend this informational meeting.

- Saturday Aug. 29 FFA members will be helping with the Ozark Family Rodeo. Members will need to arrive to the arena by 3 PM. This is a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours.

⭐️Mrs. Rebecca Ichord, Ms. Alexis McLeod, Mrs. Katelyn Luttrell, Mrs. Teresa Skidmore, Mr. Chris Harris, and Mrs. Brittany Keyton have all earned Tenure with the Licking R-8 School District. These newly tenured faculty members were celebrated at our annual back to school staff meeting on Tuesday, August 18. Congratulations!

Licking FFA members had a great day at the Missouri State Fair! Students had the opportunity to experience the fair and learn more about Missouri agriculture. Members also participated in Missouri FFA Food Insecurity Day, helping pack meals that will be going back to Missouri communities to make sure everyone has access to food. There were about 200 FFA members, advisors, and community members as well as Governor Kehoe helping pack over 67,000 meals in just two hours! It was a great opportunity for our students to serve others, learn about food insecurity, and see how agriculture and community service go hand in hand. We are proud of our students for representing Licking FFA and showing what it means to live out the last line of the FFA motto: Living to Serve!

‼️All offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week for required all-staff trainings between 8:00am and 11:00am. Offices will reopen at 11:00am. Thank you for your patience while we complete required training to prepare all staff for the 2026-2027 school year.
