Some of the LHS FFA Chapter members attended the 98th Missouri State Convention held in Columbia, MO, where over 10,000 members and guests attended. Members had a blast getting to celebrate the accomplishments of their fellow members from across the state and hear the State Officers reflect on their year.
Day one started off with a stop at the Capitol, where members got to tour the Capitol and visit with Representative Cook. Later that evening, members attended the First Session of the convention, where they heard from state officers and the keynote speaker, National FFA Western Regional Vice President, Jael Cruikshank.
The second day of the convention started off with Josie Gifford heading to choir rehearsal, and the rest of the group attended the Business Session, where Avery Buckner and Angel McGuire served as our chapter delegates. Then members attended the Second Session, where they enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments of members from across the state. Later that day, members attended the Third Session where they heard the results of CDEs and LDEs. State winners get to represent Missouri at the National FFA Convention in October.
Day three, the last day of convention, members started the day off attending the Career Show, where they got the chance to connect with various colleges, tech schools, and employers from across the state. After the Career Show, members had the chance to take part in helping run the Career Show by participating in the Courtesy Corps, which allows members to lend a helping hand and meet members from across the state. We ended the convention by attending the Chorus Concert before Session Five, where our FFA Chapter President Josie Gifford performed. We are so proud of Josie and her dedication to taking part in the Missouri FFA All-State Chorus!

Your hard work, dedication, and commitment have truly shown on the court. Even more importantly, you have been outstanding leaders—setting the example not only in competition, but also as role models for the younger athletes here at Licking.
You’ve made a lasting impact on this program, and it has not gone unnoticed.

🚗Today, our juniors and seniors had the opportunity to participate in the Southwest Coalition for Roadway Safety activities.
Students took part in obstacle courses while wearing impairment simulation goggles, giving them a firsthand look at how alcohol and other substances can affect coordination, reaction time, and decision-making behind the wheel.
These students took the Buckle Up Phones Down Pledge and signed the banner pledging to keep safety a priority.
We’re grateful to the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Licking Police Department for guiding students through the activities and having meaningful conversations about the real-life consequences of poor choices and driving under the influence.
This important experience was made possible through funding from the Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety 2026 Project Prom/Graduation Grant. We appreciate their support in helping keep our students informed, aware, and safe as they head into prom and graduation season.

➡️Attention Licking R-8 School District Families: Missouri SUN Bucks is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer months of June, July, and August. Families will get a one-time $120 benefit per qualifying child loaded onto an EBT card. These funds can be used to buy nutritious foods at authorized locations. Our students are eligible for Sun Bucks because of the district's qualification under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
❗Important: In order to receive a $120 SUN Bucks card, families need to ensure that their address on file with the school district is up to date. If your address is not up to date, please log into your Infinite Campus portal to update your information by April 30.
