Licking FFA Activities for the week of September 13 through 19.
- Monday Sept. 14, we will have Mill Clean Up. Students can meet at the ag room or drive down to the mill.
- Tuesday Sept. 15, is the Area Leadership Conference. This event is available to all officers and Ag 2 students. Official dress is required and we will be leaving at the end of 1st hour.
- Wednesday Sept. 16, we will have our first chapter meeting of the school year. This will be right after school, and we will be voting on our chapter shirt design.
- Thursday Sept. 17, will be the Area Trapshoot. Students on the trap team need to bring enough shells for 50 targets, water, and money for food. Leave time will be announce once shoot times are sent out.
- Friday Sept. 18, Fruit & Meat order forms and money are DUE. Make sure to get these items turned into Ms. Hance before the end of the school day.
- Saturday Sept. 19, members will be helping at the Mill in the morning giving tours and helping vendors. In the evening members will be helping park cars at the Truck & Tractor pull.
The Varsity Lady cats complete the sweep of the night winning in 3 straight; 25-11, 25-16, & 25-17!

The Licking Lady Cats take on the Lady Bears of Willow Springs here at the Sherman-Hill Field House tonight. The JV started off the actions with a 2-0 straight set win; 25-6 and 25-23. Varsity takes the court next!

We want to hear from YOU!
Elementary should have received letters last week that talked about the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence. These letters contained the link to a survey as well as a code to use when logging into that survey. We would like to ask that if you have not completed your survey yet, to please do so as soon as possible so that we have good feedback to use for this process. We are looking to improve and want to hear what you have to say! If you need help or have misplaced your letter please reach out and we will get the information to you!
We will also be looking for around 15 parents that would be willing to participate in a focus group with the BRSE Facilitator on Tuesday September 22nd at about 2:00pm here in the Elementary. The meeting should take approximately 30 minutes and we could have you all out in time for carline! If you are interested in participating please reach out to Mr. Barry at bbarry@licking.k12.mo.us and he will add you to the list!

Licking FFA fruit and meat sales are underway!
The Licking FFA is excited to kick off our annual Fruit & Meat fundraiser! Members have a variety of fruits, meats, and other great products available for purchase.
Licking FFA Activities for the week of September 7 through 12.
- Monday Sept. 7, we will have our first Mill Clean Up of the year. Students will need to be at the Licking Mill by 10 AM, please bring water as it will be hot. This is a great community service opportunity for members and last about 1-2 hours each Monday.
- Tuesday Sept. 8, will be the first Grasslands practice of the season afterschool in the ag room. If you are planning on competing on this team or just want to learn more about this contest, please join us.
- Thursday Sept. 10, the FFA chapter will be traveling to Willow Springs for the Area Aggie Olympics. Those attending need to be in the ag room right after school, we will be leaving right after school.
The JV squad secured the sweep of Conway this evening, winning 3-1 in 5 innings of competition!

🚨ELEMENTARY CAR LINE PARENTS🚨
We just received word that starting Tuesday (9/8) morning, crews will be re-paving Maple Avenue starting at 63 and working their way East towards Main.
This will necessitate some adjustments to our morning carline. Please come down College avenue from either direction, and turn onto Walker street. From Walker St. you will turn into the new bus barn gravel lot (the covered bus parking side) to access the normal car line area. A picture is attached to show flow of traffic.
I am hopeful that this will be finished by dismissal time, however please be prepared to do the same loop in the afternoon, should Maple still be closed to traffic.

🔬🧠 Science in action in Mr. Snelling's class! Today, students put on their scientist hats as they practiced making careful observations, drawing inferences, and developing evidence-based claims. Working collaboratively in groups and independently, students examined clues, discussed their thinking, and supported their conclusions with evidence. It's exciting to see our young scientists strengthening critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills while learning how real scientists investigate the world around them!

Licking R-8 School District is making families aware of a disturbing social media trend currently circulating on platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram involving the “Cat in the Hat.”
The trend features AI-generated or digitally manipulated images and videos depicting the familiar character in frightening or threatening situations. While much of the content appears to be intended as a disturbing internet trend or hoax, some posts circulating in communities around the country have included the names of schools, students, locations, and threatening language. 📌 HERE’S WHAT PARENTS & STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW:
✅ Many of the images and videos circulating as part of this trend are AI-generated or digitally manipulated and do not represent real events.
⚠️ However, threatening social media content should never be dismissed as “just a joke.”
⚠️ Posts that reference a school, student, staff member, or specific location while using threatening or intimidating language will be taken seriously and may have serious consequences.
🏫 Student and staff safety is always our top priority. Licking R-8 will continue to monitor information related to school safety and will work with appropriate authorities when concerns are reported.
🎯 WHAT CAN YOU DO?
🔹 Talk with your children about what they are seeing online.
🔹 Remind them not to create, repost, or share threatening content, even if they believe it is a joke or part of a trend.
🔹 Encourage students not to share their school, home address, location, schedule, or other personal information online.
🔹 If you encounter a concerning post, take a screenshot and save the information.
🔹 Do not engage with, confront, or attempt to investigate suspicious accounts yourself.
🔹 Report concerning content to a trusted adult, school administrator, or law enforcement.
🔹 If a post identifies a specific school, student, staff member, or location and contains a direct or implied threat, report it immediately.
📱 IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.
Social media trends can spread incredibly quickly. What may begin as a meme or attempt to get attention can create genuine fear, disrupt the school environment, and require a serious response.
We encourage our families to remain calm, stay informed, talk with their children about responsible social media use, and report concerns rather than spreading them further.
