🔥🚒 Exciting adventures for our LEAD students today! Our learners traded their classrooms for the world of firefighting during an unforgettable Firehouse field trip. From climbing aboard the shiny fire trucks to trying on those iconic helmets, our kiddos were in for a treat! They learned about fire safety, met some real-life heroes, and even discovered what it takes to be a firefighter. Who knew learning could be this much fun?
Shout outs to Licking Fire Department for hosting us, Mrs. Bryant for coordinating this trip, and Mr. Krewson for driving the school bus 🚌

🥾🛶Science Club Update from Mr. Holmes:
A total of 25 people started - and completed - the Current River Challenge this past Saturday (including 18 current LHS students, 4 LHS grads, and 3 more outdoor enthusiasts).
It was warm to be sure, but that made the float at the end all the more glorious!
The "8-mile" hike was more like 9 miles, but it was scenic, sunshine-y, and lovely. No injuries, drop-outs, or mutinies.
Wow! Swimming in the Current in October! The warm, kind-of-sweaty hike was followed by a refreshing and beautiful float down the Current River. I wish you could have heard all the happy, positive energy coming from the kids!
I was so pleased and proud of what I saw and heard from our kids all day long. They were polite, cooperative, and really seemed to have had a terrific time together. They also learned about the Ozarks and definitely got some exercise!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support of Science Club.

Mrs. Grace, 4th-6th Grade Special Education Teacher, put up a "Gratitude Tree" earlier this week. To begin the branches we're bare but as the week has passed our tree has blossomed and become covered in leaves of thankfulness. 5th and 6th grade students as well as staff write something they are thankful for and add it to the tree. The responses have been amazing and it has been wonderful to see students expressing their gratitude for the blessings they have received.
