FFA Students Advocate for Shafer Road:
🟠Tuesday, April 8, 2024, Tessa Lucas, JD Fox, Josie Gifford, and Adam Hagler met with legislators from the Missouri House of Representatives and Missouri Senate Budget Committee to advocate for funding, repair, and maintenance of Shafer Road. The students met with Representative Cody Smith, House Budget Chairperson, Representative Dean Plocher, Speaker of the House, Representative Travis Smith, Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, Senator Jason Bean, Appropriations Chair, and Senator Karla Eslinger, Majority Whip and Appropriations Committee, Texas County Presiding Commissioner Scot Long, and Texas County District 1 Commissioner John Casey.
⚫The students provided each legislator with a "one-pager" and video, including reasons why Shafer Road repair and maintenance is not only important to our school and community, but also why it is important to our state as a whole. We are very proud of these students for their efforts to advocate at the state legislative level. Thank you, Tessa, JD, Josie, and Adam! ⭐
🟠We would also like to extend a big thank-you to Representative Bennie Cook and his staff for organizing these meetings and for his assistance in preparing for the Capitol visit. Thank you!
