After all this winter weather, we have some updates to our upcoming basketball schedules:
Thursday
Boys scheduled to travel to Iberia (pending travel conditions)
Friday
Girls will play Dora at home at 6 PM.
Saturday
Boys begin district play at home. They’ll play Bourbon at 2:00. MSHSAA sets admission price. It is $5.
Girls will finish out their regular season at home at 4:30. They’ll host state-ranked Sparta.
Monday
With a win Saturday, the boys will travel to Dixon for their district semifinal game at 6:00.
Tuesday
Girls open district play at home vs the winner of Saturday’s game between Cabool and Bourbon. Game time is 6:00. $5 admission.

The Licking School District is proud of our community and those who have chosen careers of service and protection. At halftime of the varsity girls basketball game Saturday, February 20, we will honor Licking Local Heroes. Local heroes (police, fire, medical, military, etc.) dressed in uniform will receive free admission, complimentary beverage and concession item, and special recognition. Retired military may present their card.
Free admission applies to the 4:30 girls’ game only. (MSHSAA will not allow us to permit free admission to the boys district contest at 2:00.)
This special evening is being sponsored by Kristy Cook – Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance.

Tomorrow’s boys’ basketball game against Plato has been cancelled.

Due to low temperatures and snow accumulation, school remains closed Tuesday, February 16.

Basketball games against Laquey and Dixon are cancelled tonight due to weather.
Reminder to families that Monday, February 15 is President’s Day. School will not be in session tomorrow.

Our boys and girls will both play Newburg at home tomorrow at 3:00. JV boys first following by V girls and V boys. The girls senior night recognition will be prior to the girls’ game.
Crush-Grams and Travel Club orders for Valentine’s Day will be distributed at school when students return for class.

School is closed Friday, February 12. Please note that if you purchased items for Valentine’s Day deliveries from small businesses in town, those items may be picked up at small businesses Friday or Saturday during business hours.

We now know when our basketball teams will be playing in district competition:
The boys' team will host Bourbon in Licking on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00. The winner will play Dixon at Dixon Monday, February 22 at 6:00.
The girls' team will host the winner of Cabool and Bourbon in Licking on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:00.
Championship games will be held at Dixon. The boys play Thursday, February 25 at 6:00. The girls will be Friday, February 26 at 6:00.
MSHSAA sets admission prices, and all games will be $5.

Tonight’s Boys Basketball game against Newburg will be rescheduled. Saturday, February 13, starting at 3 pm: JV Girls (2 quarters), JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys.

Tonight’s Girls Basketball game against Newburg has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 16.

Jostens will be here on Wednesday, 2/17 at 12:30 to meet with sophomores about class rings. They will return on Wednesday, 2/24 to take orders from 12:30-1:30.

Just a reminder that tonight is Homecoming vs. Salem. Games begin at 6:00. Also, our JV tournament is next week. The bracket can be found on our website and app.

A new, updated bracket for the St. James boys basketball tournament is now on our website and app.
Due to a Covid situation with another school, tonight’s games in the St. James tournament have been cancelled. We should receive an updated bracket/schedule later today.
Licking R-VIII School District will be closed Monday, January 18, in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Classes will resume Tuesday.

The Boys’ Basketball game @ Iberia is rescheduled for February 18.
