Licking R-VIII School District has a 2009 refurbished basketball shooting machine ("The Gun" by Shoot-A-Way -- 6000 model) available for surplus bids. (The shooting machine has a fault in the timing mechanism.) Bids for the shooting machine will be accepted until Friday, November 11 at 12 PM in the Superintendent's Office at 125 College Avenue, Licking, MO 65542.

Jason Mayberry from TCMH Hospital joined our school nurses to discuss emergency first aid with staff today. 


It’s takes the work of many people behind the scenes to pull off big events such as yesterday’s volleyball tournament and Thursday’s cross country meet. 
Many thanks to our maintenance and custodial staff, parent volunteers, and other support staff for helping to prepare for and run the events. There are too many to list individually.

Progressive Ozark Bank LHS Classic Update:
The Lady Wildcats battled tough teams and injuries en route to a 4th place finish today. Their only match losses were in bracket play, and they were the only team to defeat tournament champion Park Hills Central.

The Lady Wildcats won their pool and will begin bracket play semifinals versus Salem shortly. The game will be in the high school gym.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for the Licking Cross Country Invitational, and we had several outstanding performances!
The junior high boys were team champions, and four runners were medalists:

In the high school race, Levi Stout finished 6th.

Good morning! Licking R-8 reminds families that there is NO SCHOOL Monday for professional development. 

Today was the character assembly at the elementary! Our Character trait was "Respect". Mrs. Green brought Keyton Rinne, Derek Mendenhall, and Brandon Canavan from the Care Coalition at our high school to speak to our students. They also helped us play our game! 




The high school library is in fall mode with some fun activities and decorations. 




Licking is host to two big events this week. Today is our annual cross country meet at Deer Lick Park. We expect about 250 runners to compete. 
On Saturday, we’ll host our 72nd annual Progressive Ozark Bank LHS Classic volleyball tournament. Ten teams will compete in our FEMA and high school gyms beginning at 9:00 AM. 
Today we are celebrating Janie Trout’s 10 years of service to the district and her upcoming RETIREMENT!! 🎉  Congratulations, Grandma Janie!! 

Special thank you to the Women of First Baptist Church, Lorene Gobble and Phyllis Caton, for bringing donations of personal items for Licking students!

The Volley Cats get the win versus Willow Springs tonight 16-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-18. 




Wildcats drop a tough one to St. Elizabeth 6-9. The boys will finish the fall season in Richland tomorrow night. 




The JV defeats Willow Springs in straight sets tonight 25-19, 29-27.
