Our high school drama class had the opportunity to go to MSU in Springfield on Thursday to attend some drama workshops and see a Shakespeare play performed. Our day started with a meet and greet with the cast of Twelfth Night. We had the opportunity to ask questions about performing Shakespeare and attending MSU . After the meet and greet, we had our choice of workshops to attend. We each got to choose what workshop we were interested in!! Our workshops included things like: Shakespeare Dance, Acting in Mask, Improvisation, Jazz Dance, Makeup: Injuries, Shakespeare, Superstition and 12th night, Music and Movement, Theater games and many more choices. Haley Burrus went to the Acting In Mask workshop and told us, "My mask was so funny I couldn't stop laughing, and it really made me think about acting with my body and not just facial expressions." The evening ended with us watching "Twelfth Night", performed by the MSU acting troupe. Something about seeing Shakespeare onstage just makes it come alive!! We are in the middle of memorizing our lines for a Shakespeare contest in February--so it was great to see Shakespeare live!!
